Help Ukraine’s poor economyHelp Ukraine’s poor economy

Recent events and the departure of Russian-backed Ukraine president Viktor Yanukovych are big lesson for Russian President Vladimir Putin and have proved that the support of unpopular rulers to protect individual interest cannot protect their rule. After several days of demonstrations in Ukraine, Yanukovych has forced to leave the presidential palace in miserable conditions, with no one knowing his whereabouts.

After the removal of a Russian-backed government, Russia immediately halted a several billion dollar aid package to Ukraine, which is facing an economic crisis. Western countries should come forward and help Ukraine’s poor economy. Unfortunately, Russia is following same policies in Middle East and supporting Bashar Al Assad’s unpopular government only for personal gain.

The reality is that despite the killing of 150,000 and the displacement of 9 million people, Russia is still supporting the Assad government. Due to selfish Russian behavior, the UN Security Council has failed to act on the Syrian conflict and things are going from bad to worse in the Middle Eastern country, which is very unfortunate.
